Granby, CO

We went on a ski trip last week to Granby CO.  with my family. The rest of the family drove to Granby but we weren't sure how Kaylin would do on a 14 hour drive. Justin really needed to be back on Wednesday for a meeting on Thursday and my parents and the kids weren't going to be home till late Thursday night. So we talked about flying there and back and my Grandpa offered to pay for our plane tickets. Thanks G'Pa!
We flew out of San Angelo on Saturday morning. We got up at 6:30 even though our plane didn't fly out until 10:30 but it worked! We got everything packed up and got to the airport by 9:30 made it through security and upstairs to the gate in plenty of time.
Kaylin slept the whole way to Dallas. I fed her in Dallas and then she slept the whole way to Denver! She was a great traveler. We got to Denver around 2:30 got our luggage and Uncle Billy and Aunt Penny picked us up and we headed for Granby.

The next few days were filled with skiing and snowboarding and family time. Most of the group decided to snowboard and took lessons. Michael,  Matthew,  and Jimmie learned pretty quickly! Justin and Joy decided to snowboard but after having a hard time decided they would have much more fun skiing. After a few falls(or just hard skiing) the hot tub in our rooms felt pretty good.
.  Justin, Joy, Jimmie,  Michael,  Matthew and I started going down blues by the second day. Amy and Stella both started on the bunny slope but by the end of the trip came down the big mountain! Stella even went down a blue on the last day.  My mom, Annie, Aunt Penny and Grammy were awesome and watched Kaylin several times so I could go ski. Annie had fun playing dress up with Kaylin.
We had a ton of fun and came home a little sore and tired :)
Grandpa drove us back to Denver on Wednesday morning and we flew back to San Angelo. It took all day but was so much easier than driving. It was a fabulous trip!

Kaylin 1 Month

I cannot believe our sweet girl is a month old already! It seems like just a few days ago we brought her home from the hospital.

Weight: 8lb 3oz
Length: 22in
Head: 14 1/2in

Diet: Nurses every 2-3 hours day and night. Sometimes if she still seems hungry we feed her an ounce or two of pumped breastmilk. Spits up a lot! The more we burp her the less she spits up so we've started burping her a lot!
I call this "Milk Coma"
Sleep: Sleeps very good at night, I usually have to wake her up to feed her. She sleeps in her rock n play bassinet beside our bed and we swaddle at night. Starting to be more and more awake during the day. Probably awake a total of 3 hours every day.

Mood: She is a very happy baby, usually doesnt cry unless shes hungry. Smiles alot in her sleep, which is so sweet and has recently started making the cutest little squeals and coos

Activities: She likes tummy time but usually gets frustrated after a few minutes and starts grunting and wimpering until I pick her up. Today we got out her playmat and she loves it! Looks around at all the little animals

Clothes: Still wearing newborn clothes but some are getting snug. Wearing size NB diapers but about to switch to size 1. Tried wearing some of her little newborn shoes, but her feet are long and skinny so they are almost too long for the shoes but she can kick them right off.

Kaylin,
We love you so much and are so excited to watch you grow and change. You are the sweetest little thing, I cannot believe you are ours!

Kaylins Birth Story

Our sweet girl is 10 days old today!
I wanted to write down her birth story before I start forgetting things. Everything happened so fast! My due date was Nov 29th but that day came and went with nothing more than a few random contractions. Never very strong, in fact, I could barely feel them. On Monday Dec 1st I had steady contractions all day, I started timing them out of curiosity Monday morning and they started out about 15 minutes apart and got all the way down to 5 minutes apart and a minute long. Justin went ahead and came home early from work, the contractions were about 3 minutes apart around 4pm. We decided to go walking at the mall(it was cold outside) and since the contractions were still consistent we decided to head to the hospital. I kept having this thought in the back of my head that the contractions should be stronger(I could still talk through them) but I also kept thinking that if they were 2-3 minutes apart then it had to be real labor. So we got to the hospital and they hooked me up to the monitors and checked me, I was at a 2 and 70% effaced. They said they would monitor me for 2 hours and then check me again. After the 2 hours she checked me again and said I hadn't changed. So they sent us home. I was so frustrated! I just knew that our sweet baby girl was coming and to be sent home was so upsetting. They told us it was probably early labor and to come back when the contractions were much stronger or my water broke. That night I went to bed, still hoping/thinking that labor would progress and we would head back to the hospital. But I slept all night and the contractions were pretty much gone when I woke up Tuesday morning. Throughout the day Tuesday and Wednesday I just had a few random and not strong contractions and same on Thursday. Thursday night after we ate supper I noticed the contractions were getting stronger and closer together. I started thinking this could be labor, but because of the false alarm on Monday I didn't make a big deal of it. We went to bed like normal around Midnight. I woke up around 2:15am with contractions and couldn't go back to sleep, I got up and started walking around because that made the contractions easier. I also got the birth ball out of the garage and took it  to our room and sat on it awhile. I was beginning to think this was real labor so I started making notes on my work phone for Kaleigh. Around 3 I realized the contractions weren't going away or getting any easier, so I brought the birth ball in the living room and started watching Friends episodes, started a load of laundry and washed the dishes. Justin woke up around 4, I told him I was pretty sure this is real labor but he could go back to bed if he wanted. He stayed in the living room with me but fell asleep on the couch around 5. At 6 my water broke, I woke Justin up, Annie was up and getting ready for work. We packed up our hospital bags and loaded the car. Annie called my mom for us and we headed to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 7, checked in and they hooked me up to the monitors, then checked me. I was at a 3 and 80% effaced. I knew at this point that this was real labor but was worried we had come to the hospital too early(I wanted to labor at home as long as possible). We stayed in the observation room until almost 8, the contractions kept getting stronger. I was up walking around because it made them a little easier. Around 8 they moved us to a labor and delivery room. They told me that my Doctor had a C Section at 8 and would come check me when she was done. At that point I mostly stayed sitting in bed, I tried standing/walking but it didn't really help. The hospital has a birth ball you can use and I wish I had asked for it but everything was moving so fast I didn't think about it. The contractions started getting very strong, I was assuming at this point I was at a 5 or 6 but they hadn't checked me since we first got there. I was starting to think if the contractions were going to keep getting worse and labor was going to last awhile longer that I would have to get an epidural. Right about that time I felt like I needed to push. I told Justin and he said "Are you sure?" I said yes and he went to get the nurse. About 4 of them came in, one checked me and said "yep your at a 9 and 100%!" This is where it starts to blur :) my Doctor walked in a few minutes later, she must have come straight from her C Section. I started pushing and sweet Miss Kaylin was born at 8:59sm on 12/5/14. She weighed 7lb 13 oz and was 20 1/2 in long. Exact same size I was when I was born.

My mom and sisters got there a few minutes later. Then Annie and Justin's mom shortly after that.
We stayed in labor and delivery for a few hours just holding her :)
Around 11 they moved us upstairs to a regular room. Mom ordered pizza, a Zesch family tradition after babies are born :) then everyone left so Justin and I could nap. But all we did was sit and stare at our sweet blessing.
Kaylin we love you so much! Can't wait to watch you grow and change.

Symtoms: baby girl likes to stay high up in my ribs so they get pretty sore sometimes. I've never had leg cramps before but I woke up to a horrible Charlie Horse last night. Justin thought I was going into labor lol. He very calmly put his hand on me and said "Are you ok?" I said "Yes just a cramp" he thought I meant a contraction and said "It probably wasn't a cramp babe." I then explained that it was a Charlie horse lol
Food cravings: still cinnamon bagels and cereal and 7/11 Slurpees
Movement: She still moves around quite a bit. She pokes her foot out sometimes :)
Belly Button: Out usually but depending on how she is positioned it goes back in sometimes
Rings: still on

Name Ideas: Kaylin Elise
What I miss: Not being preggo. Lol Justin had to put my socks on for me this morning. Definitely ready to not be pregnant anymore.
What I'm looking forward to: Holding our baby girl!!!

Annie finished making her bedding this week. I am in love with it!!
Should get her dresser this week. Then just need to paint it and put everything in it and get organized.

On another note, went to my friend Jenn's wedding yesterday. I met Jenn almost 5 years ago when I started working at Barbed Wire & Roses. For the last about 3 years of that we worked together several days a week. I never realized how close you can get to a co-worker but I would definitely consider Jenn a friend and not just a co-worker. She is one of the sweetest people you will meet and my fashion inspiration. I love her to death, it was so great to see her marry the love of her life yesterday. Congrats Jenn and JD love you guys!!

Kaylin's Baby Shower

The baby shower was on Sunday afternoon. First of all, we were so so blessed with so many wonderful gifts for Miss Kaylin!!!
It was a beautiful shower pinks and grays with some elephants for our little "peanut" and lots of family and friends were able to make it.

Lots of yummy food and deserts and beautiful cupcakes made by "Aunt GiGi" and her friend Cambry.
We received so many gifts!
Target seems to have some issues with their new registry system so we got several duplicate items. But we were able to return them and get several other items we still needed.

Thanks to everyone for coming, helping with the shower, and all the wonderful gifts. We cannot wait for Miss Kaylin to be here and start using everything!!

What I'm looking forward to: Baby shower next weekend!! And then getting her nursery ready. I went to a Breastfeeding class last week that was very informative. And Justin and I went to a childbirth class today. It was long but we learned a lot and the lady teaching it is very open to natural birth, moving around during labor ect so that was great. Just one more class, on finding alternatives to labor pain, so that should be interesting and hopefully good too! Bought a pattern and ordered fabric to make her crib bedding! Can't wait!
